Hi again, I know it’s been a very long time since I wrote to you guys last. It’s been a year and I’ve got so much to tell you. To begin with, I got home after my Seattle-trip last autumn with the experience of a lifetime. I enjoyed it so much that I eventually moved here. So this week celebrates the anniversary of my first year here and I’ve got so much to tell you.
If you ever talk to someone living in Seattle and ask what it’s like, one of the first things they will point out is the weather. As I told you last year, it is gloomy, rainy and cloudy. Eventually when you live here for some time you learn to appreciate the weather. I think there’s few better things than having a cup of coffee inside with a good book when it’s raining outside. However, every now and then it’s sunny here and that really puts the city in a different light. It feels like a whole different place once the clouds disappear and the sun is shining. There’s even a saying about it, “The mountain is out” which refers to Mount Rainier, a volcano outside of Seattle. When the mountain is out, you can see it because there’s no clouds in the way.

The best part about Seattle are somehow the people, but for other reasons this time around. To begin with, the inhabitants are very conscious, no matter if it’s about politics and the environment. Living here, you’re always updated about the latest news and politic is discussed everywhere. Keeping up with the news is therefore essential for having social relationships, even though they talk about other stuff as well. The environment is yet another thing that is important to keep in mind when living here. People here think the environment is very important and a vast majority recycle.

But the main reason I like Seattle as much as I do is how there’s no judgement. Here, you can wear and look however you want and people really wouldn’t care. You are allowed to be who you are and love who you love. And I think that’s a very beautiful thing. But of course, wherever you go there will be exceptions to this.
